Mi Music for Android

Mi Music is a free music streaming and local playback application by Mi Music that provides access to a broad library of songs and personal audio files. Designed as an all-in-one audio hub, it lets users stream popular tracks, discover new releases, and manage their own MP3 collections within a single interface. The most recent update, version 9.41.01.082416i, arrived on September 22, 2026, continuing a rapid release cadence that also included a build from September 17 of the same year.

Beyond simple playback, the app organizes content into curated playlists and genre categories spanning Kpop, Jazz, Heavy Metal, Classic, and live recordings. Users can switch between online streaming and offline listening, downloading tracks for times when a network connection is unavailable. A personal playlist feature gives individuals control over how they arrange their favorite songs, while artist-focused recommendations aim to surface content aligned with listening habits.

With over one billion installs and a content rating of Everyone, the app has become a default media player for many devices. However, its 3.90 rating from nearly three million reviews points to mixed reception. The permission list is extensive, covering device history, identity, camera, microphone, and storage, which may feel heavy-handed for a music player. Ads and in-app purchases are present, meaning the free tier comes with commercial interruptions.

Xiaomi device owners who want a built-in, familiar music experience, casual listeners looking for a free streaming app with offline capabilities, and users who frequently mix local MP3 files with online tracks in one place.

Use the offline download feature on Wi-Fi to build a playlist before traveling; this sidesteps data usage while still giving you access to your favorite tracks without an internet connection.

As Xiaomi's native music player for a billion installs, Mi Music fits neatly into the ecosystem with broad format support and offline playback, yet its reliance on ads and in-app purchases alongside extensive permission requests makes it a practical but unexceptional daily driver compared to leaner alternatives.
